REPRESENTATIVE DON HUMASON

State Representative Donald F. Humason, Jr. was elected to his 3rd term as Westfield’s State Representative on November 7, 2006 by the citizens of the 4th Hampden District. 

He maintains a Westfield District Office for the convenience of his constituents at 64 Noble Street in downtown Westfield, telephone 568-1366.

Don serves on the Committees on Higher Education, Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure, Public Health, and Transportation.  He is also a member of the ad hoc House Committee on Child Abuse and Neglect.

He is a Westfield homeowner, taxpayer, and life-long resident.  He is a proud advocate of his hometown and is always seen wearing his “I Love Westfield!” pin.

Don was first elected on November 5, 2002.  He garnered over 8,100 votes (63% of the vote) in his first run for public office.  Don served as the Director of Legislative Affairs of the Executive Office of Health & Human Services in Boston from April 1999-August 2002.

From 1994-1999 he was the Chief of Staff to Westfield State Senator Mike Knapik.  He served as the legislative aide to Representative Mike Knapik from 1991-1994.  Prior to that, Don was employed as a Trial Court Security Officer at Westfield District Court and as a Respite Counselor at the Crisis and Transitional Respite of the Westfield Area Mental Health.

Don is a 1989 graduate of Westfield State College and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice, with minors in Spanish and psychology.  He was a member of the Student Senate for 3 years and the Vice President of his Senior Class.

He graduated in 1985 from Westfield High School and was a member of the National Honor Society.

His community activities include:  Board of Trustees, Corporator, and Friend Westfield Athenaeum, Singer & stage manager The Dan Kane Singers, Corporator Amelia Park Children’s Museum, Corporator and alumnus Westfield State College, Corporator Noble Hospital, Corporator Abilities Unlimited, Chairman Ward 2 Westfield Republican City Committee, Member Westfield Sportsman’s Club, Westfield YMCA, Westfield River Watershed Association, Winding River Land Conservancy, Westfield Community Development Corporation, and Friends of Grandmother’s Garden.

Don married Janice Tracey Humason in October 2006.  He is the son of Westfield firefighter Don Humason, Sr. and Highland Elementary School nurse Alberta Humason.   His website is www.DonHumason.org.
