HUMASON NAMED TO 5 LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEES
House Minority Leader Bradley H. Jones, Jr. (R-North Reading) today announced his committee assignments for members of the House Republican
caucus for the 186th session of the Great and General Court.
"I appreciate the opportunity to continue my service as a member of the
Higher Ed, Transportation, Consumer Protection, and Public Health
Committees and in addition I am honored to serve on the Children,
Families, and Persons with Disabilities Committee," Humason said. "This
year will be extremely challenging and I'm glad to be able to have a
voice on these important legislative committees so I may represent the
best interests of Westfield and Western Massachusetts."
"I look forward to the process of attending my committee hearings,
listening to input from the public, and deliberating on the many pieces
of legislation that will come before us this session," Humason
concluded. "Being the ranking Republican on three of the committees is
going to keep me very busy!"
Representative Donald F. Humason, Jr. (R-Westfield) has been assigned tov
the following 5 legislative committees:
1) Higher Education (ranking Republican member)
It shall be the duty of the committee on Higher Education to consider
all matters concerning higher education in the Commonwealth, and such
other matters as may be referred.
2) Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure
(ranking Republican member)
It shall be the duty of the committee on Consumer Protection and
Professional Licensure to consider all matters concerning consumer
credit, consumer protection, the issuance of licenses for the sale of
alcoholic beverages, the registration of various trades or professions,
and such other matters as may be referred.
3) Committee on Children, Families, and Persons with
Disabilities (ranking Republican member)
It shall be the duty of the committee on Children, Families and persons
with Disabilities to consider all matters concerning mental health and
public health issues involving children, child nutrition, homelessness
and homeless shelters, public welfare, children, handicapped and adults
(generally), mental retardation, and other such matters as may be
referred
4) Committee on Transportation
It shall be the duty of the committee on Transportation to consider all
matters concerning the development, operation, regulation and control of
all means of transportation in the air, on land or in the water, the
imposition of tolls on tunnels or bridges and such other matters as may be referred.
5) Committee on Public Health
It shall be the duty of the committee on Public Health to consider all
matters concerning the public health of the Commonwealth and such other
matters as may be referred.
